Let us learn geometric sequence.

geometric progression / geometric sequence, is a sequence of numbers where each term after the first is found by multiplying the previous one by a fixed non-zero number called the common ratio.

1. The 9^th term of an Arithmetic sequence is –7 and the 18^th term is 20. Find the sequence.

Solution:

t₉ = a + 8d = –7

t₁₈ = a + 17d = 20

t₁₈–t₉ gives 9d = 27

d = 3

Substituting d = 3 in t₉, we get

a + 24 = – 7,

a = – 31

Hence the Arithmetic sequence. is -31, -28, -25,…
